Urgent appeal——Give attention to the herdsmen who go to Beijing to safeguard their rights

Twenty herdsmen of Siziwangqi of inner mongolia have come to Beijing to petition by K90 train on 11th Jan, 2015. They texted a message to us in the train, which caught our attention. We hope the worldwide South Mongolian compatriot and all walks of life can share and support this. The herdsmen of Siziwangqi have petitioned for a long time. Last summer, the media had reported that and the problem is still unresolved. So the herdsmen can no longer eat the humble pie and come to Beijing to petition.

The reason for the misunderstanding is quite simple. In order to build the Zhu Rihe military base, the authorities removed the local herdsmen. However, the attached conditions are still unfulfilled.

According to the herdsmen, the military authorities colluded with the local government and they cruelly trampled the lawful rights of the grassroot herdsmen. And the herdsmen reflect the escalation of the petition is actually a reluctant action. Since the Reform and Opening-up policy, the grassroot farmers and herdsmen of minorities transfer their land and sacrifice so much in order to boost the economic growth. The reason for the“511 Incident”(the herdsman Mergen run over by a lorry with coal)in 2011 that provoked a storm of protest was not accidental. It reflects the anxiety of the South Mongolia. The petition this time manifests that the living conditions of Mongolias is still degenerating. We sincerely hope Beijing will attach importance to the lawful petition of the South Mongolian grassroot and thoroughly punish the corrupt elements in taking over the Zhu Rihe land. We will keep track of this and if the local interest groups try to hinder the lawful petition, we’ll strongly say NO. We’ll fully support this and hope it draws more attention from more people until it is solved.
